BBC Music Magazine on Adler’s violin concerto

In 2018 Linn Records released One Lives But Once, a three-disc set celebrating Samuel Adler’s 90th birthday.

Siwoo plays Adler’s only violin concerto, which Adler wrote for him when Siwoo was a student and Adler a professor at the Juilliard School. The Brandenburgisches Staatsorchester Frankfurt is conducted by Emily Freeman Brown.

Geoff Brown reviewed the set for BBC Music Magazine. Its other discs gather Adler’s orchestral music and, on the third, his music for guitar, played by young performers from the Eastman School of Music, where he taught for thirty years.
